Hi,

With a new installation of Emacs...

    Package: emacs-snapshot
    from http://ppa.launchpad.net/avassalotti/ubuntu

    GNU Emacs 23.0.60.1 (i486-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.12.9)
of 2008-05-06 on iridium, modified by Debian

... on a freshly installed Kubuntu Hardy 8.04, I get the
following error when opening my ~/.emacs file:

Which file uses the function above?

Hi Peter,

It seems to be in emacs/lisp/vc.el.

Up to a couple of days ago, the search
http://www.google.com/search?q=vc-dir-menu-map-filter only
returned one result!!

Now, it also returns a second: "VC Breakage", discussed begin of
May in "Emacs - Dev".

What I can tell you is that the above error seems to occur every
time I visit a versioned file for the first time (be it
`.emacs', `.bbdb', etc.).

Best regards,
  Seb

Hello, it seem many vc functions are broken actually, i can't use
anymore vc to manage the files versioned under rcs, i must use the
command line.

Set debug-on-error to nil. Yes, it is a nuisance.
