I still don't know but the latest snapshot fixed it (GNU Emacs 26.0.50
(build 2, x86_64-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 3.20.9) of 2017-03-15,
20170315:93229-0cfe3ee-emacs-25.1~ubuntu16.10.1)
