1. I customized a little, my .emacs is below:

2. M-x package-list-packages

3. Pressed U.

4. Pressed x. I needed to press it more times, it was not finished. As a
screenreader user, it seemed to me that Emacs is not responsive during
the installation process.
So I tried to interrupt speech by pressing some keys.

5. After installation of 11 packages I pressed q and exited Emacs.

6. Run Emacs again and press C-h f, gomoku

7. After this Emacs crashes.

8. If it matters I installed Emacs through scoop package manager.

In GNU Emacs 29.2 (build 2, x86_64-w64-mingw32) of 2024-01-18 built on

Thanks.  Please run Emacs under GDB, and when it crashes, produce a
backtrace from the crash ("thread apply all bt") and post the
backtrace here.

Yes:

  . start Emacs from a Command prompt window like this:

      gdb emacs

  . this will show the GDB prompt "(gdb)".  Type "run" (without the
    quotes) to run Emacs under GDB.

  . when Emacs starts up, do whatever you need to cause Emacs crash

  . when Emacs crashes, you will see the "(gdb)" prompt in the Command
    prompt window where you started Emacs under GDB.  Type at that
    prompt:

      thread apply all bt

  . GDB will show the backtrace; copy/paste it into your email reply
    to this message, and send your email rely

The file emacs_backtrace.txt can only be interpreted on your system,
since the program which converts the addresses to file names and
function names needs to read the emacs.exe file on your system.  So it
is much less useful for us than a backtrace generated by GDB.

Hmm this is interesting.

1. It only crashes when I run it under git-bash and the exact command 
line is "emacs -nw".


2. The command thread apply all bt seems to do nothing, only writes 
prompt "(gdb)"


3. It does not matter if I press "yes" or "no" in the message box that 
pops up.

So confused...

Then you need to type "gdb emacs" from Git-bash prompt, and when you

Results are the same. I previously typed "gdb --args emacs -nw", but 
also tried "gdb emacs" and then "run -nw".

Emacs crashed, I pressed yes but "thread apply all bt" did not write 
anything.

I don't understand how this could be, I'm guessing there are some
details you haven't described.

Please describe step by step everything you do, including what exactly
does "Emacs crashes" mean, and what you do after it crashes.

P.S. FWIW, invoking "emacs -nw" from Git-bash works just fine here
with Emacs 29.2 on Windows 11.

Perhaps I did not mention that I ran emacs with -nw parameters. It seems 
it does not crash when run as a GUI.

Other than that there is nothing moreI can tell about it.

No, and I cannot do that: your configuration has too many packages
installed that I cannot introduce into my setup, sorry.

And what about to try the fresh Emacs, and set the home directory 
temporarily?

I did just that. I returned to Emacs after a long time I didn't use it, 
so I started from scratch.


I made just one mistake. I didn't notice that git-bash sets the HOME 
variable while cmd doesn't. So I accidentally tested with two different 
setups.

I may have stumbled on something similar today, and fixed it.  If you
can build your own Emacs after making a small change in the C sources,
I can tell you what to change, so you could see if the crashes go away
after the change.

Assuming you haven't already built Emacs from the emacs-29 branch for
yourself, could you try downloading and running one this version and
seeing if you can run in -nw without a crash using your config?
