Do you really think that people will take this list and go "ah, much
better"? "Awesome, finally 'proselytization' is recognized"?
Your writing style is pretty out there, e.g. lower-casing "emacs" but
capitalizing "Mathematica" and then camel-casing "PhotoShop". Why even
use spell checking if you're going to use odd spellings such as "thru"
and "programer"? How often do you actually type "ubiquitousness"?
This has _nothing_ to do with Emacs, yet you send it to two newsgroups
and a mailing list, all about Emacs. Sorry, but this is nothing but
spam to get more hits on your web page. It's a bit ironic that you
added the word "spammer" to your dictionary.

THere are SO many words that need to be spelled every day. For decades I have
been building my own word list to augment the totally inadequate "dictionary"
that came with ispell so long ago.
Some are specific- like friends' names, addresses, telephone numbers, etc. All
such belong in personal wordlists.
But yesterday and today I got completely tied into a mental knot over the word
"surveillance". I actually opened the "spelling dictionary" in emacs. THere
were very few words in the original dictionary. "Surveillance" was not 0ne of
those words!
I tried looking it up on wictionary, but since I didn't know how to spell it
(duh!) wictionary told me there was no such word. It does not have the "do you
mean ..." feature that google has perfected. Today, (after some sleep) tried
wikipedia (which Does use the "do you mean..." function and I copied the word
from there (and learned to spell it in the ordeal).
THe entire process took over 90 minutes total and revealed to me how TERRIBLY
inadequate the spellchecker dictionaries are.
I expect to have to use my own (hardcopy, paper) medical dictionaries to
confirm spellings for most of the medical vocabulary words I use (before I add
them to my permanent list) - but "surveillance"? really?? -- well, it is used
in public health and epidemiology... but I associate it with governmental TLAs
and drones.
So thank you very much for the additional words.
I accept all of them gratefully.
Maybe if we all share our words, we can contribute a more robust dictionary to
the GNU project.

Totally agree.
Since we are talking of improving your spell checking there is
bbdb-ispell in bbdb v3.0 that will export selected bbdb fields to your
personal dictionary.

Google itself is pretty good with helping you find words you don't know
how to spell. I've seldom had to search very hard when I just enter the
word (spelled as I think it *might* be) and let Google figure out which
one I was hoping for. When it does, it then usually lists wiktionary or
wikipedia as among the first links.
I'm quite sure there are some collaborative spelling lists out there. In
fact, I seem to recall something called the "moby" whatever; I guess
"moby" signifies huge size, like Moby Dick. Whatever...

I find M-$ usually does a pretty good guess.
It comes up with the right answer for these:
survalence
sirveilance
Google search is pretty good too.
