ISTR means backward, but this is not as mnemonic as on an imaginable horizontal line of buffers visited from left to right. Also tried to use different modifiers for and : C-x - tab-line-switch-to-prev-tab C-x - tab-line-switch-to-next-tab C-x C- - previous-buffer C-x C- - next-buffer but these keybindings were intended to be identical.
