Bisecting (to base 10 ;-)

$ cp movies.list /tmp/bad && cd /tmp

Then repeat the following 5 or 6 times.

$ split -n10 bad
$ emacs -Q x*
$ cp x... bad
$ rm x*

Just look for the indication of the buffer coding system in the mode
line to find the first bad file at each step.
