Maybe it would be useful to get a list of occurrences of the current
isearch string? This was discussed on gnu.emacs.help. Johan
Bockgård suggested an implementation. I shortened it and now I have
the following:
(defun isearch-occur ()
"Invoke `occur' from within isearch."
(interactive)
(let ((case-fold-search isearch-case-fold-search))
(occur (if isearch-regexp isearch-string (regexp-quote isearch-string)))))
(define-key isearch-mode-map (kbd "C-o") 'isearch-occur)
What do people think?

It would be useful, but I don't want to keep giving special isearch
meanings to more and more characters. We already have too many, I
think.
But this command could be called using M-x. It ought to be
able to work after you exit the search. Does it?
