bug#10830: 24.0.93; message-send-mail-function function no longer working

I know that emacsbug.el, sendmail.el, and message.el are currently
being worked on, so possible fallout is to be expected.

Consequently, the following function doesn't work anymore (while not
with emacs -Q, of course):
