Hi all,
I'm sure this has been asked before but I'm not aware of an archive (
please point me to one if available ). I would like to to get a textbook or
2 to help as I start to learn Emacs. What would you recommend. Are there any
must haves?
Thanks,
Mark

A lot of basics are covered in _Learning GNU Emacs_ (O'Reilly), but this is
getting to be out of date when it comes to the optional major modes covered.

Do you know that Emacs comes with its manual? Type C-h i d m Emacs
RET. You can order this manual from the FSF in printed form, as well.

The full texinfo source is available under GPL (or GPL for docs?).
So, if you know how to compile texinfo files to Postscript, you can
print it yourself. :)
Of course, it is not very environment-friendly, given the thinkness of
the full manual. Just print a few important chapters and read the
rest from within Info/Emacs.
