As result of that last year's thread (which, to recap, started with http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/emacs-devel/2010-06/msg00554.html), I looked closer at the clip_changed flag, and discussed my findings with Gerd M=F6llmann. Our conclusion was that it shouldn't be necess= ary to test this flag when deciding whether try_scrolling can be called. So I now committed a change to that effect (revno 103756 on the trunk); please see if recentering as result of fontification function= s is now avoided. This does not yet constitute resolution of this bug, I'm still workin= g on that. Stay tuned.
