Hello list,

How does Emacs clear the echo area? For example, type:

 C-g

and you see:

 Quit

in the echo area.

The 'Quit' will then stay there until you press any key.

How is this clearing of the echo area achieved?

sebyte

Emacs deliberately clears the echo area after commands. If you want
to clear the echo area from a Lisp program, call 'message' with an
argument that is either nil or an empty string.
