Does it really need to be explained? It's a word used for its literal
meaning. The very first line presented in the *Help* buffer says:
package-update-all is an interactive compiled Lisp function in
‘package.el’. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
