Thanks.  Do you have an idea what could be those threads that Manuel
saw when debugging such an Emacs?

Manuel, would you please describe in detail how you debug such an
Emacs?  That is, how you start GDB in gdb-mi, and how you "connect"
GDB to the Emacs session launched as above?
