Even if they don't, M-. will prompt for it > interactively. YMMV, but IMO configuring Xref to use etags for Lisp is an easier and more versatile technique. All it needs is this: (add-hook 'emacs-lisp-mode-hook 'xref-etags-mode) I did that long ago, and never looked back.
