I've pushed a scratch/face-realization branch to Savannah. Ken, can you try that and see if there are any tangible gains (or bugs) in your configuration? I'm particularly interested to know whether this eliminates unnecessary calls to realize faces on frames that are on another display. If you see such calls, please show backtraces. Thanks.
