Run your sbcl under slime and connect to it from emacs: screen -S lisp sbcl Then type: (asdf:operate 'asdf:load-op :swank) (swank:create-swank-server 4005) You can now detatch your process by typing "C-a C-d". You can also leave it open if you like. Then start emacs and type M-x slime-connect to connect to the swank process.
