Subject: bug#49887: [Feature request] Lookaround assertions in Elisp regexps
Date: Thu, 5 Aug 2021 03:56:51 +0200 (CEST)	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <733439345.608750.1628128611179@ichabod.co-bxl> (raw)

It would be nice if Emacs Lisp regexps supported positive- and negative-lookahead/behind assertions. After Tomohiro Matsuyama attempted to submit a patch in 2009, there was a subsequent discussion (https://emacs-devel.gnu.narkive.com/cpv75xJJ/patch-for-lookaround-assertion-in-regexp) that suggested some possible avenues but ultimately did not lead to anything concrete.
