As somewhat related, tab switching in browsers and multi-tab terminal emulators is often bound to C-PgUp and C-PgDown. Those bindings are taken, but the directions could be reused. Anyway, I personally like C-x sequences for window navigation - it's my second choice after M-. But it doesn't seem like an option, alas.
