Subject: bug#9029: 24.0.50; Elisp Info for defface predicate type is incorrect
Date: Fri, 08 Jul 2011 17:54:32 -0400	[thread overview]
Message-ID: <6c39igphev.fsf@resistance-is-character-forming.permabit.com> (raw)

Start info, menu Elisp, menu Faces, menu defining faces

The documentation for the predicate clause 'type' states that (type
graphic) will match all graphical displays (x, w32, presumably ns), but
in fact this is not implemented.

A look at faces.el in face-spec-set-match-display indicates that it is
intended to be changed, but is clearly not implemented as such.

The function docs for defface do not mention 'graphic' as a type value,
only the Elisp info does. (Have not checked other places.)

In my opinion it implementing graphic would be useful and the right
thing to do, so I'd be happier if someone did so rather than just
fixing the Elisp info doc, but that depends on the complexity.
