Thank you for the Emacs wiki link. I honestly didn't know it existed. I
have a paper copy of the manual. I'm an undergraduate student and decided
to use GNU Emacs. It's awesome and I expect to use it for life; although it
feels odd saying that. Besides one c++ instructor, I think I'm the only
person using emacs at my institute, NYU-Poly. I was glad to find the
mailing list yesterday too. I've been alone for two months. Thanks for your
help guys.
Xecycle mentioned I should not attach my public key or whatever I did.
Sorry about that. I was in thunderbird and it seems I can't figure how to
attach my signature. But why use thunderbird when I can use emacs??? Do any
of you use emacs for email and mailing lists and calendars? And how has
your experience been? I'll search the wiki and my manual, but I appreciate
hearing from other people.

You're welcome.  But please use plain-text email for the mailing list.

A paper copy is great - makes good free-time reading.

But if you have Emacs then you most likely have its manuals built in, as well.
They are a large part of what makes Emacs "the self-documenting...editor".  Try
`C-h i' and see if you don't have a menu of manuals to choose from, including
`Emacs' and `Elisp'.

Learning to ask Emacs itself will greatly help your Emacs experience and
learning.  Not just the manuals, but the tutorial and the help keys (`C-h C-h',
to start).

Don't feel sorry for the others.  They won't know what they're missing.

Many Emacs users use it for email and calendar.  Others of us don't.

I use emacs for all my email - specifically, I load mh-e which accesses
MH commands. I like MH because it saves each email in a separate file.

Very good overall. Attachments aren't handled automatically, though: 
I save them and view them with the appropriate utility. So I might look
into a purely-emacs solution that handles attachments transparently
(which, to guess from this thread, is the case with emacs email mode).
But I'm not sure when I'll have time to do this.
