Continuation of a font problem ...
The first box hides a mathematical symbol, N-ARY SUMMATION, at U+2211,
the second box hides a GREEK SMALL LETTER ALPHA at U+03B1. Switch
through all your fonts and see whether there is one which contains
these glyphs too. I am using -b&h-lucida sans
typewriter-medium-r-normal in iso10646-1 encoding. There is too an X
font displayer, xfd.
