Few days ago, i tried to enable IMAP with Rmail, Emacs's default
mailer. But Rmail seems not to offer IMAP yet. Is there anyone to use
IMAP with Rmail. Futhermore, am i connect on Gmail's IMAP with Rmail? If
it is possible, once i am willing to try to use Rmail because i believe
real emacs hacker prefer Rmail to the others.

I haven't used Rmail myself (no surprise, since I am not a "real emacs
hacker") but Gnus and Wanderlust both do IMAP, handle all mailbox
formats, and are easy to set up with gmail. Personally, I found Gnus to
be slow with IMAP mailboxes and have stuck with wl.

AFAIK it's likely to be much harder to set this up with Rmail. If you
can live with the diminished kudos, give one of them a try.

Rmail/WL/gnus?? Which is the easiest to script?
Requirement is to generate a small cooked automated mail to a fixed
set of recipients (through an IMAP server)
And one politically incorrect question: Is rmail a reasonable option
today? Does anyone use it??

But that is "use IMAP like POP", isn't it? That doesn't count as IMAP
support in my book.

Bye, Reiner.

I wouldn't know imap from a hole in the ground. I'm just saying that:
the question how much, or how little, support does Rmail have for imap
is answered in the Emacs manual.

I do and I find it really practical even today if you can stay
away from the MIME jungle (which I am also trying to do). Though
there are still glitches with encodings from time to time (hard
to track them down).
