Of these only "Emacs" and "Help" produce a menu when you click on them. This seems to be regardless of whether my .emacs is loaded or not (ie. without the -q, or through launching the program normally in finder). Is this an issue others experience? If not it may be as a consequence of how I built the package (from pkgsrc's wip/emacs-current with PKG_OPTIONS.emacs_current= nextstep), or perhaps it is from aquamacs being present? My mac is a synergy client to a linux machine - so I use the linux keyboard and mouse to control the macbook. synergys & synergyc are both version 1.3.1, protocol version 1.3 > I can't confirm this issue from Mac OS X 10.4.11, Tiger, with a PPC CPU: > > In GNU Emacs 23.0.91.1 (powerpc-apple-darwin8.11.0, NS apple- > appkit-824.48) > of 2009-03-27 on Latsche.local > Windowing system distributor `Apple', version 10.3.824 > configured using `configure '--without-sound' '--without-pop' '-- > with-dbus' '--with-libotf' '--with-ns' '--disable-ns-self-contained' > '--x-includes=/opt/local/include' '--x-libraries=/opt/local/lib' '-- > enable-locallisppath=/Library/Application Support/Emacs/calendar23:/ > Library/Application Support/Emacs' 'PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/opt/local/lib/ > pkgconfig:/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig:/usr/lib/pkgconfig' 'CPPFLAGS=-no- > cpp-precomp' 'CFLAGS=-Wno-pointer-sign -H -pipe -fPIC -mcpu=7450 - > mtune=7450 -fast -mpim-altivec -ftree-vectorize -foptimize-register-move > -freorder-blocks -freorder-blocks-and-partition -fthread-jumps - > fpeephole -fno-crossjumping' 'LDFLAGS=-dead_strip -multiply_defined > suppress'' > > It uses libraries from MacPorts. Before I was using those from Fink. > Which libraries is your version using (otool -L /usr/pkg/Applications/ > Emacs.app/Contents/MacOS/Emacs)? Interestingly enough the libraries listed by otool -L all do NOT come from pkgsrc: otool -L /usr/pkg/Applications/Emacs.app/Contents/MacOS/Emacs /usr/pkg/Applications/Emacs.app/Contents/MacOS/Emacs: /System/Library/Frameworks/AppKit.framework/Versions/C/AppKit (compatibility version 45.0.0, current version 949.43.0) /usr/lib/libncurses.5.4.dylib (compatibility version 5.4.0, current version 5.4.0) /usr/lib/libgcc_s.1.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1.0.0) /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 111.1.3) /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreServices.framework/Versions/A/CoreServices (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 32.0.0) /usr/lib/libobjc.A.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 227.0.0) /System/Library/Frameworks/CoreFoundation.framework/Versions/A/CoreFoundation (compatibility version 150.0.0, current version 476.17.0) /System/Library/Frameworks/ApplicationServices.framework/Versions/A/ApplicationServices (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 34.0.0) /System/Library/Frameworks/Foundation.framework/Versions/C/Foundation (compatibility version 300.0.0, current version 677.22.0) One more thing, the previous version of Emacs23.0.60 (2008/12/04) that I was using had a working Preferences menu (Command-,) - i.e. the preferences menu was specific to Cocoa Emacs and had options such as swapping the Command and Meta keys. The version I built yesterday (23.0.91.1) opens up a *Customize Group: Emacs* buffer instead of the cocoa specific preferences window. Do others experience this too? Yes! This change is a month or two old (I didn't notice it, next Emacs.app worked as before). The mechanism behind these preferences was too general, overriding settings from the real init files. And not offering a method to edit them (removal rather impossible). See nextstep/ChangeLog! The libraries of my Emacs.app: /System/Library/Frameworks/AppKit.framework/Versions/C/AppKit (compatibility version 45.0.0, current version 824.48.0) /opt/local/lib/librsvg-2.2.dylib (compatibility version 25.0.0, current version 25.3.0) /opt/local/lib/libgdk_pixbuf-2.0.0.dylib (compatibility version 1401.0.0, current version 1401.7.0) /opt/local/lib/libcairo.2.dylib (compatibility version 10803.0.0, current version 10803.6.0) /opt/local/lib/libgobject-2.0.0.dylib (compatibility version 1801.0.0, current version 1801.3.0) /opt/local/lib/libgmodule-2.0.0.dylib (compatibility version 1801.0.0, current version 1801.3.0) /opt/local/lib/libglib-2.0.0.dylib (compatibility version 1801.0.0, current version 1801.3.0) /opt/local/lib/libintl.8.dylib (compatibility version 9.0.0, current version 9.2.0) /opt/local/lib/libdbus-1.3.dylib (compatibility version 8.0.0, current version 8.0.0) /opt/local/lib/libncurses.5.dylib (compatibility version 5.0.0, current version 5.0.0) /usr/lib/libgcc_s.1.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 1.0.0) /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 88.1.12) Because of librsvg some GTK stuff is needed. Libdbus might be useless in Aqua ... and libintl too? Emacs.app does not need much from outside the Mac OS X frameworks which have PNG, TIFF, GIF, JPEG support (and in WebKit there is SVG support: Safari displays splash.svg and other GNU Emacs particles). Support for X windows/ netpbm is emulated. -- Greetings Pete Increase the size of your bike by at least *five* inches! ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 6+ messages in thread

If I switch buffers and/or frames, I can come back and they work again. Also, if you open a file via Tramp and try to pull down the Options menu, Emacs crashes. Reported this a while back, but I don't know if it ever made it through. - Ian ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 6+ messages in thread
