bug#10749: 24.0.93; does not compile on Mac OS X 10.4.11/PPC in international/mule-conf

This really looks like a compiler issue. Using -O[0-4s] all goes fine,  
but using -fast leads to errors. My last try was with:

No wide-ints set up, even using the official "-mtune=G4" to overcome  
the G5 optimisation. It leads to:

I'll see whether an X11 variant works better.
