For all I know, it's been broken in 24.5, and Eric accidentally fixed it 
during 25's development. Not sure there was ever a reason to change this 
variable's value from the default.

P.S. In the future, please keep the bug email address in the Cc field. 
That's how the bug discussions get recorded for posterity.
