Hi all,

The new version of js2-mode, which I'm going to push to GNU ELPA
shortly, contains quite a bit of code written by Stephen Hicks, a Google
employee, who hasn't himself signed the copyright assignment.

The copyright clerk said it's okay, because Google has a corporate
agreement with FSF, and the work was apparently done on company's time.

But I didn't know how to annotate that situation in the commit history,
hence this email.

Thanks for your attention,
Dmitry.

Yes, IIUC it's indeed OK legally speaking, but we don't have a good way
of dealing with it.

I don't think there's a predefined way to do it.
IOW we have to invent one.
For ChangeLog, I'd use a syntax like

2015-02-01 Stephen Hicks <foo@bar> (assigned by Google)

For the commit message, I guess we could use something like
"Signed-Off-By: Google, Inc."

        Stefan

It would be good to get this smoothened out -- there are a lot of us at
Google who hack emacs and making the contribution process smooth would
make it easy on everyone -- what you propose sounds perfect.
