Evaluate this:
(let ((beg (point)))
(insert "foo")
(add-text-properties beg (point)
'(follow-link [down])))
Then click on "foo". In Emacs 24.3, that would move point to the line
below it.
In emacs-24 and master, that just triggers paste (IOW, delegates to
mouse-2, which calls `mouse-yank-primary').
Whoever fixes this, please add a regression test.

Looks like it was broken in 27a98a62d1c46b057428cc3ed964743b69628299.
The removed code includes a (or (vectorp on-link) (stringp on-link))
case. The new code doesn't.

I tried this in Emacs 25.1 (and Emacs 28), and I'm not able to reproduce
the problem -- it moves to the next line for me.
Do you still see this problem?
