Suse 10.2 tells giflib is installed for that: giflib - Eine Bibliothek zur Arbeit mit GIF-Bildern This Library allows manipulatng GIF Image files. Since the LZW patents have expired, giflib can be used instead of libungif again. Thanks Andreas
