Hi there.
For some years I used Vim, but currently I'm missing some important
features to use for coding and debugging.
Today, I'm passing to Emacs as a editor of choice for every editing
purposes, but I'm missing the Vim's automatic highlighting when opening
configuration files.
I tried M-x conf-mode but it's imperfect. For example, if I edit
/etc/crontab in Vim, it highlights correctly every field and variable.
What can I do to make Emacs try to highlight every configuration file
like Vim?
Thanks!

I don't know if there are some more powerful mode for your
need. However, you can write your own mode for configuration
files. Check this out
