There where some more options required in setq org-publish-project-alist
I believe.
Try to add
:base-extension "org"
:publishing-function org-publish-org-to-html
and maybe some other as described in the manual
http://orgmode.org/manual/Sources-and-destinations.html#Sources-and-destinations
ff.
