23.0.60; Default process-connection-type for Mac should perhaps be t

M-x shell on this version of Emacs (Emacs.app on Mac OS X 10.4) gives
a hung process.  This is fixed by (setq process-connection-type t)
before starting the shell.  That should probably be the default.

process-connection-type is t by default in emacs. Please note that
Emacs.App is NOT included in emacs CVS, so you are better off asking
this question to the maintainers of that code.

OK, apologies for this, I had seen suggestion elsewhere that Emacs.app 
was in CVS and somehow the "official" port.  They also need to change 
their address for bug reports, then...
