Your `basic-save-buffer' should give you three ways to do that:
(or (run-hook-with-args-until-success 'write-contents-hooks)
(run-hook-with-args-until-success 'local-write-file-hooks)
(run-hook-with-args-until-success 'write-file-hooks)
