Please write in English, because the Emacs maintainers do not have
translators to read other languages for them.

Your bug report will be posted to the bug-gnu-emacs@gnu.org mailing

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

I have installed emacs on Windows XP. I have also installed the
UNIXutils, which
include "diff". I have then tried to compare two buffers. After entering
the
names of the two buffers, I receive the following message:

ediff-setup: Symbol's function definition is void:
ediff-setup-diff-regions

and the file comparison then quits. What should I do to make it work?

Thank you

Thank you for your report.

Could you please type

  M-x set-variable RET debug-on-error RET t RET

and then try the Ediff command you used again, and post here the
backtrace popped up by Emacs? That would help us narrow down the
problem.

TIA

Hi Eli,

I have switched on my PC and tried again right now.
It works fine. Yesterday I installed the UNIXutils
while emacs was running. Before installing them,
emacs complained that it could not find "diff";
after installing them it complained that it had
"ediff-setup-diff-regions" void.
Probably emacs does some initialization while it is
started that needs be done to make ediff work
properly.

-Angelo
