No matter what means I use to copy in emacs, I am unable to paste to
other X programs. Pasting into emacs works fine. I am using Ubuntu
Edgy with KDE.

Middle click paste doesn't work for you?

Well, I don't have a middle-click setup. However, I can successfully
use copy then right-click paste to copy between any other two programs.
I can also copy into emacs from other programs fine.

Matthew

You mean you have set up the right mouse button to emulate "middle click
paste"? Interesting, how do you get the context menu of an application
then.

Which platform are you on? Which applications are you trying to copy
from? What is your version of Emacs and the toolkit used?

I'm sorry. I should have been clearer. I don't have any emulation, but
I'm not using middle-click. I paste with C-v, SHIFT-INS , right-click,
then the paste item on the context menu, or something else.

I'm on Kubuntu Edgy, which uses KDE and QT.

Matthew

I see. I am curious why you don't want to use "middle click paste".

Try enabling "Synchronize contents of the clipboard and the selection"
in the "General" tab of klipper.

It's not that I didn't want to, but that I didn't know how. I'm using a
touchpad, with only the pad and two buttons. I just figured out how to
emulate it (left and right click).

I can copy from emacs this way!

This provides behavior that's intuitive to me. I can copy and paste any
way I choose, including from emacs.

Thanks!

Matt

A solution that works for me is in the other current clipboard thread
in this newsgroup.
