Message-ID: <41B94F8C.5000603@artisan.com> (raw)

Hi,

       Machine : SunOS 5.8 sparc SUNW,Sun-Blade-100
      emacs version : 21.3

I am not able to modify an existing file which has write
permission, but the
directory under which the file present has only read and execute permission.
I can modify that with vi editor.

       eg
            foo-dir <directory> permisssion r-xr-xr-x
                 |
                 foo <file> permission rw-rw-rw-

Thanks,
saravanan
