I use `M-x erase-buffer' the same way Juanma does, but mostly in a *Text* buffer that I've created (instead of *scratch*). Even though I don't use it in comint and custom buffers, I think it should probably signal an error, because that's what `C-x h C-w' and `C-x h M-x delete-region' would do. But it would be nice if `C-u M-x erase-buffer' would work in that context, by binding inhibit-read-only. -- Kevin Rodgers
