Have anyone hacked elscreen to start screen numbering from 1?

No, why would you want to? starting numbering from 0 is a tried and true approach :-)

It has never caused me any problems and I regularly use multiple escreens (I think escreen and elscreen are separate add-ons but do the same thing).
