query-replace(-regex) backward

query-replace(-regex) backward

Hi,

Is it possible to use query-replace(-regex) to search & replace 
backward, like search-backward(-regex)?  (A numeric argument to 
query-replace(-regex) means that it will search for words.)

This feature would be very convenient sometimes.  I know it possible to 
define macros, etc..

Sorry for the confusion.  The actual functions I have been referring to are:

query-replace & query-replace-regexp

and search-backward & search-backward-regexp
or isearch-backward & isearch-backward-regexp
or re-search-backward
