Yeah. This situation strikes me as only slightly ugly though, and I don't see another way to reconcile the compatibility constraints with adding new keybindings. Would we remove the global C-x 4 bindings when someone called windmove-default-keybindings? That doesn't strike me as the surprise-minimizing option.
