which is the proper url for alpha version of emacs 24 for Windows?
there's
http://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/emacs/pretest/windows/
and
http://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/emacs/windows/
the latter seems to have funny version numbers. e.g.
both of these
emacs-20120507-r108144-bin-i386.zip 07-May-2012 03:05 57M
emacs-20120514-r108224-bin-i386.zip 14-May-2012 08:36 57M
says
GNU Emacs 24.1.50.1 (i386-mingw-nt6.1.7601) of 2012-05-14 on MARVIN
• 24.1.50 ??
• and both having the same version?
but ones from
http://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/emacs/pretest/windows/
says
GNU Emacs 24.0.97.1 (i386-mingw-nt6.1.7601) of 2012-05-16 on MARVIN
which seems more proper.
Thanks.

The former (cf. "pretest" in the name).

These are development snapshots from the Bazaar trunk. The number
after the "r" is the Bazaar revision number on the trunk. 24.1.50
means that it's post 24.1.
