I have these two functions from Jeff Peck:

	(defun scroll-down-in-place (n)
	  (interactive "p")
	  (previous-line n)
	  (scroll-down n))
	(defun scroll-up-in-place (n)
	  (interactive "p")
	  (next-line n)
	  (scroll-up n))
