In the past you've told people with similar problems to
install Symbola. I did that long ago. Clearly just
installing it is not enough.
Now you suggest I add font GNU Unifont. I just did that -
downloaded unifont-10.0.07.ttf, unifont_csur-10.0.07.ttf,
and unifont_csur-10.0.07.ttf from
http://unifoundry.com/unifont.html, and added them to my
Fonts folder.
No change - same 2 minutes to show simple.el.
