Subject: How can I change the default loading buffer?

Hello,
When I open emacs, the default buffer is *GNU Emacs*. How can I change
it to *shell*?
I have add
(shell)
(switch-to-buffer "*shell*")
to the end of *.emacs*. (shell) is success, but the default buffer is
not changed.
