Hi all, I'm new to this list, and I need some help with a font problem
that's driving me crazy: menu fonts are really bad, blurred and almost
illegibile, whereas everything's fine in the text... I really don't know
how to fix this, I suppose it has something to do with the default font
of the graphical interface used by emacs... My emacs is GNU Emacs 21.3.1...
Any help will be much appreciated. Many thanks in advance!
Andrea Benaglia

Using a version with GTK bindings would solve this at once ...
The fonts used in menus or pop-ups are determined by X ressources.
There is some information in the GNU Emacs info system. I have set:
Emacs*pane.menubar.font: -*-lucida-bold-r-*-sans-10-*-*-*-*-*-iso10646-1
Emacs.dialog*font: -*-lucidatypewriter-bold-r-*-sans-10-*-*-*-*-
*-iso10646-1
Emacs*menu*font: -*-utopia-bold-r-*-*-10-*-*-*-*-*-iso10646-1
The latter setting is for pop-up menus, the one before for dialogs.

I apologize if this is the incorrect list, but if anyone can give me some pointers I'd appreciate it.
I must have broken something, but I can't figure it out. All of the sudden, the emacs is coming up with the worng font.. It does tell me that:
frame-notice-user-settings: Font `-misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--14-130-75-75-c-70-iso8859-1' is not defined
I brought up the hello file and only the ASCII characters display. I've used this setup for many months with no roblem, so I can only surmise that I hosed something, but have no idea what.
If anyone out there has some ideas of how to get this back up to displaying hello file, I would sincerely appreciate it.
Cheers.
