Subject: bug#4121: 23.1; "emacsclient -c <file>" woes "emacs --daemon"
Date: Tue, 11 Aug 2009 17:27:37 +0200 [thread overview]
Message-ID: <20090811152737.1AD4A1E0010@lin01.mn-solutions.de> (raw)
It's too easy to kill an emacs-server. Consider this sequence:
$ emacs -Q --daemon
$ emacsclient -c file
C-c C-x -- or -- C-c #
$ emacsclient -c a
emacsclient: connect: Connection refused
emacsclient: No socket or alternate editor. Please use:
The effect doesn't happen if I omit the "-c" option from emacsclient.
Unfortunately, without the "-c" option I'll get a text only (tty) client
and not a graphical one.
In GNU Emacs 23.1.1 (i486-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.8.20)
of 2009-08-11 on mnz66.mn-solutions.de, modified by Debian
Windowing system distributor `The X.Org Foundation', version 11.0.70101000
