When I do:

    $ emacs -Q file.pdf

where file.pdf is any PDF file, doc-view displays it. Then I do:

   C-x C-f other_file.pdf RET

to open a different file, and get:

   File mode specification error: (cl-assertion-failed (not
   (get-char-property (point-min) (quote display) (car winprops))))
   Error during redisplay: (wrong-type-argument numberp nil) [3 times]

Two files with which it should be reproducible:

   http://www.logic.at/prolog/seven1.pdf
   http://www.logic.at/prolog/seven2.pdf
