* If I performed a fresh check out now, what version of CC mode should I get? @ 2007-01-03 21:07 Eric Lilja 2007-01-03 21:12 ` Eric Lilja 0 siblings, 1 reply; 3+ messages in thread From: Eric Lilja @ 2007-01-03 21:07 UTC (permalink / raw) Hi! I just performed a fresh checkout of emacs. M-x c-version reports Using CC Mode version 5.31.3. I was under the impression that I would get version 5.31.4 now, but maybe I did and someone just forgot to update the version string. Also, I was never able to find the changelog for 5.31.4, anyone able to clue me in and provide me with, preferrably, a direct link? :-) - Eric ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 3+ messages in thread

I accidently started my old version of emacs (build 23rd of december 2006). With this new build, cc-mode reports version 5.31.4. But I still would like to know where the changelog is. :-) - Eric ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 3+ messages in thread

However, all the information is in .../emacs/lisp/ChangeLog (search this file for "progmodes/cc") and .../emacs/man/ChangeLog (search this for "cc-mode.texi"). All the code changes since the release of 5.31.3 in February 2006 have been bug fixes (apart from some refactoring); there are no new features. The CC Mode manual (cc-mode.texi), has been enhanced a little bit. Normally, a CC Mode version would first be released at its home site at <http://cc-mode.sourceforge.net>, and then copied to Emacs at savannah.gnu.org a day or two later. However, due to various pressures, this process has been short-circuited. The sourceforge release, including a coherent change log, will be happening soon. Note that there is no ChangeLog in .../emacs/lisp/progmodes, where the CC Mode code files live. I'm not sure why - maybe it would be a good idea to separate out a ChangeLog in each subdirectory of .../emacs/lisp, thus taking the pressure off the enormous change log there. > - Eric -- Alan Mackenzie (Ittersbach, Germany) ^ permalink raw reply [flat|nested] 3+ messages in thread
