Dear Emacs Hackers,
What can you tell me about (real, possible, or pending) support for
multibyte math in Emacs? I am thinking about something that would be
similar to the program TeXmacs, but run inside Emacs using mule. This
seems particularly relevant given that the STIX project
(www.stixfonts.org) nears completion.

I've just visited the page of TeXmacs. I didn't know about
such a project. With some extension, the current display
engine of Emacs will have a facility to display a fairly
complex formula if there exist sufficient fonts. But, it
doesn't mean that we can provide a real wysiwyg facility.
Current Emacs doesn't have a way to print the buffer
contents as is.
Perhaps, the current TeX/LaTeX mode can be enhanced so that,
upon users request, it displays mathmatical part as
something like a printed image. But still, we can't
simularte, text fonts, the line spacing, line breaking of
TeX.

There's preview-latex, eg. the wiki page
http://www.emacswiki.org/cgi-bin/wiki/PreviewLaTeX
points to http://preview-latex.sourceforge.net/
which has some impressive screenshots.
Alex.

Yah, they are surely impressive. Joe, do you want something
more than preview-latex?
