Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

Create a diary file with the following content (taken from the Emacs
Info node "Appointments")

Monday
  9:30am Coffee break
  12:00pm Lunch

Create an .emacs file with the following content (also taken from the
Emacs Info node "Appointments")

(display-time)
(add-hook 'diary-hook 'appt-make-list)
(diary 0)

Run emacs with -no-site-file.  On Mondays, one alarm will be set 10
minutes before the 9:30am appointment.  The text for the 9:30
appointment has the 12:00pm line appended.

An identical setup under GNU emacs 20.5 behaves as documented in the
Info node, i.e., it sets two alarms, one 10 minutes before 9:30am and
one 10 minutes before 12:00pm.
