A better option might be to keep this links line in the buffer, but put
it at the extreme bottom of the buffer.
Alas, the place in the text where that line is present is at the
beginning of the node. It would not be a good idea to alter the
buffer contents.
What if the links were in the mode line instead of a header line?

If the text put in the header line were changed so it would
not look like the line in the buffer, would that solve the problem?
